Apologies as ever for the long silence - as usual, one thing led to another, and everything led to me never getting around to posting pictures after that little trip. ^^; Not to fear though, you've not missed a thing. Haven't taken many photos lately, as I've just been going back and forth to work, and the store, and my camera batteries have been doing a lot of dying lately. hmm.

Finally got my North Carolina pictures up today, check them out at my Yahoo photo albums. Unfortunately, more than I'd thought came out kind of blurry - most of them were taken on a very grey morning, in the woods, and the light must've been lower than I thought. But, there are some VERY, very pretty things in there, I'm really happy overall. :)

Only taken a few sporadic ones since then, but will post them here soonish, and if it ever stops raining for five minutes, I have a location in mind to sneak into and shoot before the summer's fully gone...

peeling paint! <3

oh forced perspective, you are my friend. I kinda hate saying what this really is, as it wrecks the illusion, so enjoy and then continue reading. ...an odd sort of grate over a little drain ditch (the grate being maybe a foot wide).

and more with the happy compositioning. I did not do this - only found it. :) so I have no idea why they're like that, but, yay.

every now and again, the world matches the compositions I wanted. part of a wall alongside the paper factory.

just like the colors and textures here... this is another one that will undoubtedly be layered into a desktop background sometime.

*has to laugh* Well apparently there's a person behind the spam somewhere - my inbox was filled again today, but with new messages, these ones sounding more human. Three different messages, all generally saying "nice site, great pictures, very informative, keep it up!" etc., all in bad english, all anonymous. And then they repeated. *giggles, rolls eyes, and waits to see if new messages begin appearing after this* Still being deleted, people... just go away, it's not going to work.

ugh. I hate spammers. If you see any comments about "here are some links I believe will be interested", just ignore it, I'll kill it as soon as I see it. I hate getting crap, but I absolutely refuse to make anyone trying to comment have to put in a string of random numbers and letters. There's no reason *you* all should have to prove you're not machines every time you want to say something. Nor will I disable anonymous comments - for one, spammers get around that easily anyway, but more importantly, I want my places online to be as free and open as possible, friendly and easily reachable by anyone. I'm not going to force someone to make a blogger account just to post comments to my blog. I want to be as encouraging toward feedback and things online as possible.

So, yes, I will stab the spam whenever I see it, ignore if you see it before I do. (And whatever you do, don't click the link - it's probably ad-intensive, and they will make money if you do. grr.)

love the texture and layers of colors to this... close-up of an old, much-repainted, low railing beside the parking lot. (I promise the store is not actually grungy like this! I just have a predilection for old decaying little things, as I'm sure you're aware by now...)

close-up of paint peeling on a windowsill. <3

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

another close-up of a dumpster... I can't figure out if that pink was actually there, or if it was my camera glitching again, as it's done that sort of thing before. either way, still kinda cool.

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

the next set are alongside the paper factory (that's the name of the store, it's not an actual factory by any means!) in town, toward the back of the store. great way to spend a lunch break, taking pictures. ;) this is a close-up of a dumpster, the colors were amazing.

bits of rubble and remains; butter'n'eggs growing up alongside old cement and what might be aged insulation...

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

a corner of the old foundation - I believe near where the ticket window once was, if I remember correctly (by the time I arrived in town, it had long been boarded up, the doors locked...except, of course, the one in back ;).

a bit of painted flooring, half-buried under gravel and encrouching plants.

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

I love the colors and textures and all in this... looks like it was taken in a desert, rather than among the ruins of an old movie theater.

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

bits of cement which once made up walls or floors, scattered and coated in moss, surrounded by small yellow bouquets grown in mourning.

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

any of you who I know irl have probably seen the photos I took inside an abandoned movie theater in fredonia... a few months after I took those, the building was torn down; I returned to town after the summer break to find only rubble close to the ground. the next series are taken on the place where it used to be...

close-up of one of the edges of the ferris wheel. always fascinates me, in a creepy sort of way, looking at the wear and rust and things of amusement rides...

- .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - .. - ..

shot of the ferris wheel, taken while in motion while we were on it. really like the little bursts of color dotting the white lines.
